Mission Statement

"This is the future, man."
-foreshadowing prophecy from the critically acclaimed "Pappu Can't Dance (Sala)"

So here is whats up. We are creating a site that is meant to propagate views that seem to have been lost somewhere in the midst of people's prejudices, egos, and skewed visions of the world. Two Punjabi youths coming from different sides of the religious and political spectrum have decided to set aside differences and write about things that matter.

We may not be the most informed or academic but we share something very important: the integrity of our shared Punjabi culture. More importantly, we understand the culture's historical evolution (and recent devolution) and the facets of the culture that to this day have a profound effect on Indians, Pakistanis, Americans, Canadians, and people of the Diaspora. Understanding the power of identity, its politicization to serve narrow agendas, and how culture can manifest itself in the least expecting ways .... all these things and more have led us to write about issues that we find sometimes urgent, sometimes sad, sometimes funny but (hopefully) always thought provoking. With that said, welcome to E-Dervish!
